We were sitting in the back parking lot of the Shopping Channel warehouse off Kennedy Road for these shots of N13716. We captured the United Airlines Boeing 737-700 on December 4, 2018. Although a distance away from the end of the runway, this might be a great spot for some Toronto Pearson International Airport plane spotting.
Interestingly, December 4, 2018 marked the 20th anniversary of this airplanes delivery to Continental Airlines. It was on December 4, 1998 when this Boeing 737-724 first entered service for the airline that would later merge with United Airlines.

N13716
N13716 performed its first flight on November 12, 1998 and was delivered to Continental Airlines on December 4, 1998. This was about a year after the first Boeing 737-700 was delivered to Southwest Airlines. With Continental merging with United Airlines, N13716 was transferred on November 30, 2011.
The Boeing 737-724 is configured for a maximum total of 118 passengers with 12 seats in first class, 40 more in premium economy and 66 economy class seats. These models are to be reconfigured to fit 126 passengers. Then, by 2022, United will have replaced all their B737 airliners with Airbus A319-100 models.
On August 20, 2016, N13716 was flying from Houston, Texas to New York’s La Guardia Airport. On final approach, the Boeing 737 touched a wingtip on the runway surface and had to go around. The airplane landed safely on the second attempt. After being grounded for 15 hours, the aircraft returned to service.
Boeing 737-700
The first of the Boeing 737 Next Generation Family of aircraft, the Boeing 737-700 entered service in 1998 with Southwest Airlines. Southwest remains the primary user for this particular model. The airliner is 34 metres or 110 feet in length with a wingspan of 36 metres or 118 feet. At the tail, the Boeing 737-700 stands 13 metres or 41 feet in height. The flight range is 5,570 kilometres.
This variant is in direct competition with the Airbus A320-200. Check out our article, and video, comparing the Boeing 737 Next Generation Family and the Airbus A320 Family.
